Hi there, and welcome to the newest location based social networking platform online! We're thrilled you're here, and wish you every success in finding your "Buddy".
Buddy is a new social networking platform that enables people the world over to find people who share common interests, a common location, and a sense of immediacy. Unlike most social networks available today that match people based on interests, Buddy adds two further degrees of control - location and time. With Buddy you can find people who share a common interest with you, who are near you, and who share that interest right now.
We all know that our interests vary by time and location, so why shouldn't your social network accommodate that? You may love playing tennis, but when it is cold and rainy outside, your (current) interest may instead be in finding someone to go to the movies with. Or to play computer games with.
So how does it work? Well, Buddy is a platform that enables clients to connect either to add profiles of Buddies, or to find Buddy matches. The two Buddy clients currently available are the Buddy.com website and the Buddy iPhone application.
Buddy.com is currently in Beta, and is just a "window" into the Buddy network - it's a real time view of where all the Buddies in the world currently are, and what they're looking for. Each coloured dot represents a Buddy user (or several if many are in the same general location) - simply double click on an area of the map to zoom in, and hover over a dot to see details about that Buddy. It couldn't be easier! As we evolve the Buddy.com website out of Beta, we'll be adding the functionality of a fully featured client - enabling users without mobile devices to experience the full richness of the Buddy platform.
